Amy Waghorn

Owner & Lead Sports Therapist

I founded AJW Sports Therapy in 2020 to deliver expert, evidence-based care with a personal touch, ensuring every client receives tailored treatment that fits their goals, lifestyle, and performance needs.

Originally based in Nottingham and now living in Durham, I’m passionate about helping clients bridge the gap between injury, rehab, and performance — with a growing focus on women’s health and encouraging more women to be active, strong, and confident in their bodies.

After graduating from the University of Derby with First Class Honours in Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation, I gained experience with The Nottingham Panthers IHC and several local clinics before founding AJW Sports Therapy.

I’ve since completed a Master’s in Sports Medicine at the University of Nottingham, expanding my knowledge of human movement, injury prevention, and performance optimisation to deliver truly holistic care.

Currently working with NLD RFU Women’s and Girls Program, Newcastle University's Women’s Rugby Team & FA Women's England Talent Pathway.

Jodie Talyor

Sports Therapist

Jodie graduated from the University of Derby with a First Class degree and brings a wealth of academic, elite sporting, and practical experience to AJW Sports Therapy.

Alongside her studies, she has competed as a track cyclist for many years, including three years as part of the Great Britain Cycling Team, where she achieved a national title. Jodie has also worked with the University of Derby and the Fijian government, delivering sports coaching in rural Fiji for four weeks — an experience she found incredibly rewarding.

In addition, she currently works with Derby Rugby Club’s men’s and women’s teams, providing pitchside support as well as injury rehabilitation and clinical support.

She is a teaching assistant on the undergraduate Sports Therapy course at the University of Derby, passing her knowledge onto the next generation of sports therapists.
